Cloakroom splashback

Cloakroom splashback

A new basin in my cloakroom (downstairs loo) prompted the need for a new splashback. My kiln is not big enough to make a panel in one piece so I opted to make 3 panels forming one seascape design. I made a full size pattern to use as a guide for placing the coloured enamels.   I cut the glass - 3 pieces of glass for the base layer. The enamel colours sifted on with a sieve. All three pieces of glass butted up to each other, as this is how they will be fitted.  Another piece of glass is...

Seascape fused glass art panel

I use glass powders and frit a lot in my fused glass panels, but this one is made up from sheet glass (Bullseye). I've used sea blue, aqua, light turquoise, midnight and streaky white glass, all lovely co-ordinating shades. The sky is white streaky, this glass varies a lot from one sheet to another, so I picked a section that gives the impression of a white cloudy sky. Part sheets, stacks and cabochons

Christmas is coming - fused glass Christmas decorations ready for the kiln

12 stars and 12 Christmas trees in the kiln ready to fire. I make these every year in different colours. Last year it was stripes, so each year I make them different from the last. The trees have a wire ring fused into the top, between the layers. I will add a ribbon so they can be hung from the tree. The stars are just one layer of glass, and I usually wrap a fine ribbon around and make a loop. I'll take a photo of the finished Christmas decorations tomorrow, if they turn out well 😉
